University Projects

S(l)it

This project focussed on the circular economy. For this pur- pose, the waste product trade fair carpet was used. Exhibition carpets are used once as flooring at trade fairs and then end up as waste. The aim was to reintroduce this waste product into the cycle. A seat made of ropes and this carpet was developed to give these materials a new life.

Paperfoam

Experiments with cellulose.
The aim – to develop paper foam. As part of an experimental de- sign process, a lightweight, fo- am-like material was developed from recycled paper and water. The pulp was applied to a cus- tom 3D-printed mould using a vacuum cleaner, which extracted the water and shaped the fibres. After drying, the structure was coated with natural glue for sta- bility. The result is a firm, tactile surface. Studio tests explored the material’s potential and de- monstrated new possibilities for sustainable, formable materials using recycled resources

This project was developed in collaboration with Lilly Wülfing.

FLOORED

‘Floored’ is a modular floor ele- ment for private spaces that invites you to sit, lie down and interact thanks to its textile upholstery with floor contact. It facilitates the transition from classic furniture to floor-level use and offers a new way of being together.

The focus is on the creative co- design by the users: By folding, connecting, draping or freely arranging, a variety of shapes are created that can be used in- dividually. ‘Floored’ does not permanently cover the fl oor, but actively integrates it as a central surface. In this way, the floor re- tains its function as a place to stay and move around.
